The Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC) is an international campaign aimed at improving working conditions and empowering workers in the global garment and sports shoe industries.  The Irish branch of the CCC was established back in 2010 by the founding organisations which include the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, Mandate Trade Union, Comhlámh, Trócaire and Re-Dress.

CCC Ireland aim to;
• Build a strong body of support in Ireland to improve working conditions in the global garment industry and empower its workers;
• Educate and raise awareness among consumers of the conditions in which some of their clothes are made; and
• Put pressure on governments and companies and offer direct and unified support for workers in the clothing and footwear industries.

It is important that you, as a consumer and young worker, support those working in the garment industry to be free from exploitation and abuse and ensure that they obtain the conditions of decent work.  You can do this through raising awareness of the conditions in which are clothes are made and lobbying to have exploitation practices abolished.

It is important that the campaign can grow support among young people.   If you are interested or concerned about these issues, why not sign up as a supporter of the CCC Ireland and they will keep you informed of developments in this area.

It’s simple, just click here and ask to be added to the mailing list.  For more information on the campaign, check out the CCC website.
