On 8th February 2012, the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Andrew Montague, kindly agreed to formally launch the Congress school's programme YouthConnect, in the Mansion House, with our partners the Irish Second-Level Students' Union.

There was a long and distinguished guest list  and we were delighted that so many people were available to attend on the night and show their support for this wonderful programme.  We were particularly impressed with the teachers and students, recent recipients of a YouthConnet lesson, who gave of their free time and attended on the night.  I would like to particularly mention, the excellent speech Niamh Noonan delivered, from the Nagle-Rice School in Doneraile, Cork, who so eloquently spoke about the importance of students knowing about their employment rights and being aware of issues which may arise for them in the workplace.  Not an easy task, but Niamh carried it off beautifully, definitely someone to watch for the future.

It was a wonderful night of meeting and greeting between the different stakeholders of the project, from teachers to union leaders, students to student representatives.  We hope it was as enjoyable for our guests as it was for the YouthConnect team and we look forward to a long and happy working relationship with the school community.

We hope to see you all again soon.

The YouthConnect Team.
